To celebrate Piedmont, Italy,
these wines are featured by the glass during the month of March 2019

ALTO PIEMONTE
Two hundred years before the names “Barolo” or “Barbaresco” appeared on a wine bottle, wines from the Alto-Piemonte vineyards of Gattinara, Bramaterra, and Lessona were gracing fashionable tables throughout Europe. Unlike Barolo and Barbaresco, these wines are rarely made from just Nebbiolo, know locally as “Spanna.” Vespolina, Uva, Rara, and Bonarda are blended in to expand the aromatics
and temper Nebbiolo’s often savage personality.

                                                                                                                                         6 oz/2 oz taste/ Bottle

                                                   COLLINE NOVARESI AND GATTINARA

2016 ROVELLOTTI COLLINE NOVARESI “IL CRICCIONE INOMINABILE”          12 / 7 / 48
100 % Erbaluce. Intense and bright with subtle hints of hay and hawthorn to the white peach,
yellow plum, and pineapple fruit. Refined, elegant, and savory.

2013 MONSECCO GATTINARA                                                                                                      18 / 10 / 72
100 % Spanna. Black cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco, licorice, and a touch of spicy new oak
fill out the wine’s big, burly frame. A bit rustic but nicely balanced.

LESSONA

2010 MASSIMO CLERICO LESSONA RISERVA                                                                      24 / 13 / 96
Spanna and Vespolina. 40 days skin contact and four years in barrel. Packs a real punch.
Sweet, dried cherry, rose petal, mint, alpine herbs, white pepper, and chalk all open up nicely
in the glass in this super expressive, translucent Nebbiolo. Delivers superb flavor intensity with
no excess weight and fabulous overall balance.

ALTO-PIEMONTE FLIGHT                                                                                                                               16

THE LANGHE HILLS: BAROLO AND BARBARESCO
No wine region outside of France possesses more world class vineyards than Italy’s Langhe Hills.  Here, in the foggy foothills of the Alps, a diverse group of unique grape varietals thrive.  While the darkly floral Dolcetto and tangy, fresh Barbera make uniquely food-friendly wines,  it’s Nebbiolo that reigns supreme as the king of Italian grapes.

BARBARESCO

2011 DANTE RIVETTI CHARDONNAY “VALLETA”                                                              16 / 9 / 64

and juicy, this beautiful, mature Chardonnay finishes with bright acidity and a long, mineral-rich finish.
