Paul and Chelsea Melcher present a night of music from the beloved musical Phantom of the Opera along with solo selections from Rachmaninoff’s 2nd and 3rd piano concertos.

Unlike other “background music” venues,
we present a private “concert” experience, front and center.
Therefore, for the consideration of other guests, we ask that you
please consider not conversing loudly during the performance.
You may arrive between 5:30 to 5:45.
The evening features a special four-course dinner served with the live performance.
The first two or three courses will be served between 6:00 and 7:00.
The concert performance begins at 7:00.
If you are unable to arrive at 6:00, please let us know
and we can make arrangements to accommodate you.
Paul Melcher grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from St. Olaf College in Piano Performance as well as an Master of Music degree from Central Michigan University in Piano Performance. With the St. Olaf Choir, he performed all over the United States and in Norway and has played in prestigious halls such as DeVos Hall, Heinz Hall, Severance Hall and Carnegie Hall.
In 2003, Paul was the First Place Winner of the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony Piano Concerto Competition and performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in DeVos Hall. In 2005, Paul was awarded first prize for the Schubert Club Competition of Minnesota. In 2007 and 2009 Paul was the concerto competition winner both at St. Olaf College and Central Michigan University playing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor and Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major. Under the direction of Anton Armstrong, Paul’s playing was featured in the St. Olaf Choir production of “A Christmas in Norway” aired on PBS from 2005 through Christmas 2013.
In addition to his keyboard studies, Paul has experience in opera and has sung roles such as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Rodolfo in La Boheme and Rinucchio in Gianni Schicchi with the opera program at Central Michigan University. Since 2012, Melcher served for the Cabaret Series/Opera on the Edge of Opera Columbus and has performed as the pianist for their “Opera on the Edge” production of La Boheme, as a tenor soloist in the 2014 production of Pagliacci and will perform this fall as pianist for La Traviata.
Chelsea Hart Melcher
Chelsea Hart Melcher, a native of Coldwater, Michigan, has been described as “cooly captivating” onstage. The 2016 Opera Idol National Finalist graduated with a Performance Diploma from the world-renowned Jacobs School of Music under the study of Heidi Grant Murphy, Kevin Murphy, and Timothy Noble. At The Jacobs School of Music Chelsea performed Musetta (La Bohème) under the baton of Paul Nadler and direction of Jeffrey Buchman.
