We can accommodate late arrivals until 6:30 PM. \n\n\n\nReservations are required and can be made online or by calling 614-451-9774. \n\n\n\n\n\nBen Lucas and Friends\n\n\n\nJoin us for a special evening celebrating 10 years of Ben Lucas Music at the Refectory\, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Refectory! \n\n\n\nBen will be joined by some of his phenomenal musician friends\, including Jeff Daubenmire\, Austin Bruns\, Sam Kearney\, Isaac Lutz\, and other special guests. \n\n\n\nKamal hired Ben in the summer of 2016 to do some landscaping and maintenance around the restaurant\, which led to occasional shifts hosting\, running food\, and bussing tables.  \n\n\n\nOne cold December evening\, John Losco\, a Refectory mainstay\, was playing Christmas carols on his guitar in the lounge while Ben was at the podium with Kamal\, seating guests.  Ben isn’t quite sure what compelled him\, but he asked John if he could sing a Christmas carol. With clarinet/saxophonist Joseph Brenneman and bassist Trent Sampson in tow\, he set out to construct a new project. With the addition of Nick Simko on trumpet\, Max Marsillo on drums\, and Jacob Campbell on keys\, Whirlybirds was born.The band quickly began to develop its own spin on the style\, delving deeper into New Orleans style Dixieland and pre-WWII era jazz while still incorporating more modern elements of jazz\, pop\, soul\, and funk. The result is unique arrangements of original music (as well as standards/covers) designed to engage and entertain the audience in a high-energy\, live show the audience won’t soon forget. Whirlybirds can be enjoyed by audiences of young and old\, whether they be connoisseurs of jazz or simply casual concertgoers. For more than two decades\, he’s been playing stages worldwide with Motown legend Stevie Wonder\, but for even longer than that\, he’s been igniting audiences in the more intimate settings of Detroit’s greatest clubs. \n\n\n\nDwight is a soul-inspired jazz trumpeter and one of the brightest stars on the Detroit jazz scene. And although he was\, by his own account\, a late-comer to his instrument – he didn’t pick up the trumpet until he was a junior in high school – hard work\, natural talent\, and an unshakable dedication to being the best musician he could be helped him land his first gig at the age of 16\, playing in Teddy Harris’ New Breed BeBop Society Orchestra. \n\n\n\nIn addition to his countless tours with Stevie Wonder\, Dwight has also played and recorded with world-renowned jazz artists including Marcus Belgrave\, Rodney Whitaker\, James Carter\, Shawn Wallace\, and Donald Walden. We can accommodate late arrivals until 6:30 PM. \n\n\n\nReservations are required and can be made online or by calling 614-451-9774. \n\n\n\n\n\nMorgan\, MacDonell\, and Maneri\n\n\n\nThe Refectory presents a Tribute to James Taylor by David Sheils.  He will take you down that Country Road James Taylor wrote about so many years ago and into his living room with songs like the Secret of Life. It is a genuinely heartfelt and authentic interpretation of the music of James Taylor. \n\n\n\nSheils is based in San Diego\, where he performs with his full band\, Never Die Young.  He is a prolific songwriter and artist who has performed with various artists\, including Chicago\, Toto\, Mary Travers\, Tower of Power\, Billy Vera\, Chuck Berry\, Bo Diddley\, and Pat Benatar\, and has written songs for Billy Preston and Freda Payne.  \n\n\n\nHe is joined for this concert by long-time friend and Columbus songwriter Parker MacDonell on guitar and vocals\, and Phil Maneri on bass and vocals.  Parker and David performed and wrote together in the late 70’s in the iconic band Sonora and have continued to collaborate on each other’s songs and recordings.  Parker and Phil perform regularly at the Refectory and Natalie’s Music Hall as part of the Morgan\, MacDonell & Maneri trio. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Menu\n\n\n\nThe Menu Will Be Posted Soon \n\n\n\n(Subject to change) \n\n\n\n~optional wine pairings available~ \n\n\n\nThe menu can be adjusted for Vegetarians\, all seafood\, all meat\, or any other dietary concerns.
